Structural change

The internal functioning of the EU should reflect the Union’s devotion to gender equality. Only by giving the good example and showing the viability of the solution can we convince others of taking our view. The EU must devote more of its efforts and resources to gender equality. The structural funds and the Commission have to take the road to gender equality more seriously.

The European Social Fund (ESF) should not have one kind of project for gender issues but should apply gender equality as a criterion in all its work. It is unacceptable that the EU is funding plans that do not take the gender dimension into account and are executed by a team of only men or almost exclusively by men.
The European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) should take into account the special interests and needs of women when developing a promising economic infrastructure for poorer regions. Next to building roads, public transport should be enhanced; good ICT facilities shouldn’t be limited to just the working floor but also consider the need for possibilities to work at home.
